General Terms & Conditions

1 Scope of application

These General Terms and Conditions apply to all courses and events offered by meet & speak, unless otherwise agreed in writing between the parties. Deviating or supplementary terms and conditions provided by the customer are not binding on meet & speak, even if we do not expressly object to them or the customer declares that he only wishes to book the course or event under his own terms and conditions.

2 Payment of the course fee

After your registration you will receive a confirmation and an invoice with the relevant payment information. The payment date stated on the invoice is binding. By registering, you undertake to pay the course fee. Non-payment of the course fee will not be recognised as cancellation. A reminder fee of CHF 20.00 will be charged from the second reminder.

3 Course organisation

For organisational reasons, we reserve the right to postpone or cancel courses. If the course leader cancels, the school management may change the course leader or appoint a replaceme

3.1 Minimum number of participants

Courses can only be organised if at least six people register for them. If the number of participants falls below this limit, the course will generally not be held and any course fees already paid will be refunded.

3.2 Teaching materials

The cost of teaching materials is not included in the course fee and will be charged to participants separately. A handling fee of CHF 9.00 per copy will be charged for teaching materials that meet & speak obtains from bookshops on behalf of participants.

3.3 Course locations and use of aids

All costs incurred in connection with the use of the course rooms and the associated aids are to be borne by the customer.

4 Events and functions

4.1 Organisation and implementation

meet & speak regularly offers participants events and activities such as joint excursions, visits to musicals or literature weekends. These events are intended to deepen the language experience and promote a sense of community among the learners.

4.2 Registration and costs


Some events are free to attend, while others require prior registration and payment. Details of the registration and payment conditions will be announced separately for each event. By registering for a paid event, participants undertake to pay the corresponding fee. Non-payment of the event fee does not constitute cancellation.

4.3 Cancellation and refund

For chargeable events, the same conditions apply to cancellations as for courses. Cancellation is possible up to one week before the event, whereby a processing fee of CHF 30 will be charged. If the cancellation is made less than one week before the event, the entire event fee is due and will not be refunded

4.4 Minimum number of participants for events

A minimum number of participants may be set for the organisation of chargeable events. If this is not reached, meet & speak reserves the right to cancel the event. In this case, any fees already paid will be refunded in full.

4.5 Exclusion of liability for events

meet & speak accepts no liability for accidents, damage or loss of property that occur during the events. It is the responsibility of the participants to insure themselves appropriately. However, the greatest possible care will be taken to ensure the proper organisation and safety during the events.

5 Exclusion from courses

The school management reserves the right to exclude participants from the course or event for important reasons. In the following cases, the entire course fee or event fee is due without refund: Exclusion due to non-payment of the course fee or event fee and in the event of serious misbehaviour (e.g. insults, harassment, deliberate damage to property).

6 Cancellations

Cancellations may result in a full or partial refund of the course fee, depending on the time of cancellation. For cancellations up to one week before the start of the course or event, we will refund the course fee or event fee minus a processing fee of CHF 30. If the cancellation is made less than one week before the start of the course or event, the entire course fee or event fee is due.

Agreed private lessons can be postponed or cancelled free of charge up to 24 hours before the start of the lesson. For lessons on Monday, a postponement or cancellation must be made by 5 pm on Friday at the latest. Otherwise the lesson will be charged.

Lessons that are not attended cannot be rescheduled and will not be refunded.

7 Course confirmation

On request, we will issue you with a course confirmation if you have attended at least 60 per cent of the course lessons.

8 Data protection and data processing

meet & speak undertakes to treat the personal data of course participants confidentially in accordance with the applicable data protection laws. The data will be used exclusively for the purposes of course and event administration, invoicing and customer service. Data will only be passed on to third parties if this is necessary to fulfil the contract or is required by law. Further information on data protection can be found in our privacy policy.

9 Rights to course and event material

The course materials, event materials and similar content created by meet & speak are the intellectual property of meet & speak. Use outside of meet & speak courses and events is not permitted without prior written authorisation. This applies in particular to use in other language courses or events, reproduction, translation and processing in electronic systems.

10 Right of cancellation for consumers

If you have booked the course or event as a consumer, you have a statutory right of cancellation. You can cancel your contractual declaration in text form (e.g. letter or email) within 14 days without giving reasons. The period begins after receipt of this instruction in text form, but not before conclusion of the contract and also not before fulfilment of our information obligations.

11 Amendment of the General Terms and Conditions

meet & speak reserves the right to amend these General Terms and Conditions at any time. Changes will be announced to course participants and event participants in an appropriate manner and, unless otherwise stated, will come into force immediately after the announcement. For courses or events already booked, the GTC valid at the time of booking shall apply, unless the changes are required by law.

12 Place of jurisdiction and applicable law

The exclusive place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from or in connection with contracts between meet & speak and the customer is Lucerne. Swiss law applies.
